Apply it to the awning with a paint roller. Allow 24 hours for the primer to cure before you spray paint. Place a primer on the aluminum awning. Remove stubborn stains with a damp brush and a splash of detergent.

Scuff sand if coating is high gloss and wipe off sanding residue. Slide a paint scraper across the surface of the awning until it is free of all loose paint and stubborn debris. This usually takes at least 24 hours. It can be a bit tricky to paint your awning a lighter color.
